Positions Available

There are many opportunities for professional employment within the core facilities affiliated with the Iowa Gene Therapy Center, as well as the research laboratories of Center Members. Currently, there is an opening for a virologist in the Vector Core, and a postdoctoral or non-tenured faculty position in CF research in Dr. Engelhardt's lab (see position descriptions below for qualifications). By way of introduction to the University of Iowa, the environment section of this web site provides information attempting to convey a sense of the outstanding support for research that we enjoy at this institution, as well as the high quality of the research enterprise here. In addition, in the recent past Iowa City has been rated the "best metropolitan area to live in the United States" by the Editor & Publisher Market Guide. The Scientist, magazine of the life sciences, recently released results of its annual best Places to Work for Postdocs Survey of which the University of Iowa ranked 5th place. Among the factors used to formulate the Better Living list were the cost of living index, the crime index and education levels. Iowa City has also been long rumored to have the highest education level per capita of any city in the US. While those of us who live here have long known this is a wonderful place to live and raise families, it has often seemed that the quality of life here is a well-kept secret. Now, however, it appears that word is finally getting out!
